Application Fee Waiver Request

Application fee waivers are available for the following select populations:

U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university who demonstrate financial need.
Participants in one of the following approved programs:
- Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholar
- Black In AI
- Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)
- Columbia EngAGE
- Columbia University and Amazon Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program
- Columbia MRSEC REU
- Columbia Women in Science and Engineering (WISE)
- GEM Fellowship Applicant
- Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program
- Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP)
- MIT Laureates & Leaders
- Peace Corp
- Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program
U.S. Military personnel and veterans.
International students who are receiving financial aid, are sponsored by a Fellowship or organization for their studies, and/or are affected by special hardships in areas of conflict.

If you meet one of the criteria above, you may apply for an application fee waiver. You will be required to submit appropriate documentation. Please note that application fees that have already been paid will not be refunded.

Required Documentation

Acceptable forms of documentation include:

A letter verifying your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) signed by you and your financial aid officer at your current university or college, a copy of your current Student Aid Report (SAR), or a copy of your most recent U.S. income tax return (Form 1040).
Proof of participation in a program listed above. Acceptable documentation includes a letter from the program director on official letterhead. Documentation must be uploaded to this form. GEM Fellowship applicants, Columbia EngAGE and Columbia WISE participants are not required to provide a letter.
A copy of your DD-214, current Military ID card, or deployment or pre-separation orders.
Proof of receipt of financial aid or external funding.
